The Ruger Mini Thirty is a semi-automatic carbine chambered in 7.62x39 with a 16.125 inch cold hammer forged barrel and 20+1 capacity. A matte stainless receiver and barrel sit in a black synthetic stock, and the rifle weighs 6.7 pounds at 36.75 inches overall. Ghost ring sights, integral scope mounts, and a drilled and tapped receiver for the included Picatinny rail make it ready for iron sights or an optic.

The action uses a Garand style breech bolt lock with a fixed piston gas system and a self cleaning moving gas cylinder. Integral mounts machined on the steel receiver accept the included scope rings without an add on base. A protected non glare blade front sight and an adjustable ghost ring rear give a fast sight picture if no optic is mounted. Twist is 1:10 RH, and the muzzle thread pattern is 5/8x24.
